New Mexico will soon be ready to launch a statewide competency training for community health workers. Soda Creek is part of a great group of writers developing the curriculum for this training. We’re doing this for the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center’s Urban Health Partners in order to initially train Pathways navigators who work in Bernalillo County. We will then adapt the curriculum for the statewide training.
Cheryl delivered her second training at First Choice Community Healthcare. She trained staff to develop and enhance their communication skills in order to improve service delivery to patients and encourage a positive working environment. Soda Creek partnered with Native Community Development Associates to review and revise the curriculum for the training and to deliver the actual training.
We helped to plan and run a webinar to share the results of a health care home study we did with the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center’s Urban Health Partners. It was a great success! We helped to recruit a moderator and panelists who shared their views of implementing and running health care homes in Bernalillo County. We also assisted in overall planning and promotion, and were one of the presenters.
