Jan 2019 – Curricula Review

January 2019 – Curricula Review

The Community Health Worker/Representative team at Project ECHO regularly produces curricula for global audiences on a variety of health topics. This team is very dedicated to ensuring each one is audience-centered. We helped them to develop a process to review their curricula so that it’s consistent no matter the reviewer and takes into account whether the principles of adult learning have been applied.

Research rate review and how it is communicated in other states and campaigns. Develop messages that appeal to consumers and small businesses in order to increase their involvement in controlling health insurance rates. Assist in training outreach workers from Health Action New Mexico to “get out the word” about this engagement.

August 2017 – Rate Review Training

Rate Review Training

We’re working with Fourfold Partners on a contract with the State of New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance (OSI) to increase awareness about New Mexico’s rate review process. Each year, OSI oversees health insurance companies requests to raise their rates. OSI partially makes their decision whether or not insurance companies can raise rates based upon what consumers tell them via official complaints and appeals. In order to control health insurance rate raises, it’s therefore very important that consumers and small businesses provide input to OSI. We’re helping to “get out the word” about what OSI does and how vital it is that consumers/businesses participate in this process. Project partners include Health Action New Mexico for outreach and the Garrity Group for media.

Principles of Adult Learning Guide – We developed a customized guide for Project ECHO staff to use when developing training, curricula, and facilitation in order to incorporate the principles of adult learning and strategies for different types of learners.

Train-the-trainer on the principles of adult learning – We introduced Project ECHO staff to the guide (described above) and trained them on how to utilize it when writing curricula and working with different audiences.
